The survival of a 10-year-old girl is being hailed as a miracle, and it's all thanks to one special dog. Vika Z, a young woman from the Russian island of Sakhalin, loved being around stray dogs. When she became lost in a severe blizzard, she turned to her animal companions for help.
Vika went missing for 18 hours during a period of -11 degrees Celsius. Her family was concerned that the chilly night would be too much for her, but a miracle occurred thanks to the assistance of a stray dog. This dog deserves a lot of credit for his caring and protective actions.
On the way home from school, Vika is disoriented in a heavy snowstorm. Two feet of snow fell, some even blocking her ground floor of the building. Still, Vika's family and neighbors didn't stop checking.
Before long, the weather turned so bad that the snow was so heavy that it blocked the view. Vika's relatives called her name as they walked her streets. If anyone saw them, they would question the locals. Witnesses claimed to have seen a girl playing with a stray dog near an apartment complex earlier in the day.
Vika was about 800 meters from her home when her rescue team found her thanks to this clue. She wrapped her arms around her cuddly dog to keep her warm during the blizzard. Children and dogs were adequately protected from the snow on the balcony.
When help came, the stray dog disappeared as if it had done its job. He saved the girl's life, but needed urgent medical attention for a minor frostbite.
"It's a real miracle that the girl survived in this weather," said volunteer search party Anatoly Ivanov. We searched all night and found nothing. My mittened hands were so numb that I had a hard time stretching them. At the hospital, Vika met her mother, Tatyana, again. Luckily, Vika was only slightly injured and was able to go home the same day. It all came down to the enigmatic hero dog.
No one knows where the stray dog went, but the family intends to honor him in some way. Someday he will meet Vika again and get the recognition he deserves.
