Older shelter dogs frequently go unadopted, but they still want affection. Every dog deserves to spend their senior years in a loving setting.
One loving senior dog is now departing the world with a bang thanks to two friends who gave her a foster home and their dedication to making the dog's last weeks of life as memorable as possible.
Lauren Siler, a resident of Dallas, Texas, learned about Annie, a 19-year-old shelter dog in need of a home, according to 9News. She said that the dog had been "dumped at the shelter" by its previous owners.
It appeared that Annie would have to spend the remainder of her days at a shelter because she didn't have long to live. Lauren told 9News, "The vet had stated she'll be lucky if it's a month.
But Lisa Flores, Lauren's roommate and best friend, and Lauren were so moved by Annie's story that they decided to adopt her as a foster child. I saw her precious little face sitting in her poor little kennel, Lauren recalled.
The two roommates decided to make the dog's remaining days on earth as memorable as they could by making a "bucket list" of thrilling things Annie could experience. They began sharing updates about Annie's travels on social media.
Considering that no one expected Annie to survive as long as she has, it's possible that she is simply having too much fun to let up just yet.
Even though they are aware that Annie's time will come sooner rather than later, the foster parents nonetheless offer her the time of her life.
We're going to let her keep living until she's ready to go, Lauren told 9News. It would have broken my heart considerably more if she had spent her last day in the shelter.
