Sometimes all it takes to turn a timid, fearful puppy into an affectionate, dependable dog is a little bit of love. Sam Clarence adopted Stanley from a bully breed rescue in Christchurch, New Zealand, and that is exactly what occurred. When Stanley was just six months old, he and his mother and sister were discovered living on an abandoned piece of land.
A nearby shelter contacted Clarence, who walked dogs, to temporarily foster one of the puppies. He had no idea that this foster dog would quickly grow to be his most devoted friend.
Stanley, however, had a different reaction than Clarence, who fell in love at first sight. It took him an hour just to get out of the car because he was that afraid.
Every day, Clarence assisted him in adjusting to his new life and surroundings. He grew to truly trust Clarence to the point that they were always in contact.
He always had to have at least one paw on Clarence's back as he laid behind him. Stanley usually takes care to keep an eye on Clarence when they're traveling by car. Stanley moves with Clarence if he does. He is a highly affectionate dog that isn't shy about displaying it.
Stanley is no longer afraid because he has emerged from his shell. He is incredibly appreciative of his second opportunity at life and adores his new father. From a fearful, timid puppy, Stanley has grown into a sociable, outgoing "velcro dog." Including other dogs, he adores everyone he meets.
